I have been at Sunny Day Diner last weekend, I loved the place, but the food was awful. The meatloaf with gravy had no flavor, except because I put salt and pepper on it. The French fries had too much oil. I had not had a good time there.
MoreI was staying at the Riverwalk in Lincoln and needed breakfast for the wife and kids. Everything was great. Good coffee-cash only.
MoreRuben sandwich and butterfinger muffin were good, and reasonably priced $11.
Excellent food and service
This is our choice for breakfast the morning after a big day if hiking! Great food and the Coffee us REALLY good.Bring cash though...or else you'll be doing dishes! :-)
MoreNice old-fashioned Silver Diner but they only accept cash
The food was good but when I ordered 2eggs over easy I just got eggs and toast. It's comon knowledge that homefries should come with it.
MoreFun atmosphere, food was descent. The Eggs Beni was mediocre. But compared to the other breakfast places in the area, the line was short and fast, so that was a huge plus.
MoreExceptionally delicious food, very pleasantly surprised. I recommend the burger and Reuben. Cash only.
MoreAbsolutely iconic. Great atmosphere and food, coffee is fantastic
Landed here after a terrific weekend at the Highland Games, very disappointed from the time I entered to the time I left. Service was something you would expect from a big city perspective. Rude, and staff seemed truly annoyed we were there. Kudos goes to the chef, food was edible at least, but not worth the price. Not recommending this diner to anyone. Plenty more to choose from in the area.
MoreLovely old fashioned diner. Great service. Have the homemade raisin toast. Cash only. Save some toast to feed the ducks that camp out in the parking lot.
MoreGreat diner with wonderful breakfast. The Sunny Day Diner makes their own bread, so the toast you have with your breakfast will be unique and delicious. We had a party of 10 people and the waitress did a fantastic job serving us all.
MoreFood was cold and toast was not toasted. Only good thing was the eggs were good and coffee was not bad.
MoreWe had a fantastic breakfast here. Two in fact. Back to back days. The food was really good. Our waitress on both days was super accommodating of our kids. They even came out with props to entertain them. Our daughter enjoyed it so much when we asked what she wanted for breakfast she said "that place that made the Mickey Mouse chocolate chip pancakes." Oh. Don't forget to feed the ducks.
MoreWould give zero stars if there were the option, as soon as I walked in, there were seats available at the counter but there was still a wait? I was asking one woman about a wait and the woman behind the register chimes in with an attitude while dealing with another customer that there was in fact a wait. Many people waiting when they could be seated and served. Highly suggest staffing more, ended up leaving and went to Pegβs down the street.
Moreamazing food. They make their own bread! I had to buy a loaf to take home because it was so good. They only accept cash but there is an atm nearby.
MoreNot from the area and was in the area for a scenic ride. Came across this little diner and had the best Reuben Iβve ever had! Clean, cute and the food was phenomenal!
MoreVery nice nostalgic 50's type diner. The wait staff were excellant and our breakfast was great .
MoreNot a friendly place. We walked in and saw 2 booths and several seats at the counter open. The lady ( who was filling out a check) said it would be a wait, she said there were several people ahead of us?????I wished she could have explained better.Even costumers were looking at us in wonder???
MoreFantastic homemade bread and great food! The atmosphere is nostalgic and friendly. I would highly recommend this place!
MoreMy family went to Sunny Day Diner a few years ago, and we were very happy with the food and service. Last week, my wife and I returned to the area and revisited Sunny Day Diner...and it was a completely different experience. My biscuits and gravy was awful. The gravy itself had no taste (except for the salt and pepper I put on) and the biscuits were almost doughy. I don't know what happened over the years, but it's no good anymore. Too bad.
MoreBanana bread French toast was good as was the toast. Corned beef hash was overly fatty, potatoes were ok, and chocolate chip pancakes had too much chocolate even for my five year old. Service was attentive and fast.
MoreI love this little diner. Waitresses are so nice & the food is delicious and fresh. I even bought a banana bread to take home. Delicious! Especially toasted!
MoreBeen going here for 18 years and it's just as good today as it was then. All home made baked goods! Huge omelettes! Waffle eggs Benedict!
MoreWent on a Thursday, morning and while there were no booths free, there was plenty of counter space open so my family decided to sit at the stools. However, before we could even sit, a waitress said those seats "aren't for people like us" and suddenly all the empty seats were "taken" and she asked us to leave. I asked why but her and the people in there just laughed and made snide remarks, so we left. Got the sense that maybe the diner is really just for locals and tourists aren't welcome? I don't know. Whatever the case, if you're coming up to to the area to ski and hike and such, you should probably save yourself the trouble and just find another place to eat in town. We found plenty of welcoming options.
MoreThe best food I've had in a really long time!!!! Everything was perfect from staff to helping distract our 1yr old to eating!! Wish I could move this place where we live, they could use a lesson in how to cook food from these amazing people!
MoreGreat charming inexpensive casual breakfast place. All the baked good are home made and so tasty. In an old diner car, retro cozy good plain eats. Decent vegetarian fare too, veggie burger for lunch. :)
MoreClosed and changing hands. Arnoldβs Diner
Great little diner! Not enough quality places like this left in America! We make a point to eat here when we go on vacation every year! Make great eggs among many other things!
MoreSmall seating area but very friendly staff! The pancakes and bacon were delicious!
MoreLove this place! It's a cute little old metal diner right near clarks. You have to go at the right time because they are always busy! We came in April when nothing is even open and they were still busy! They have fresh baked bread and muffins which is amazing. I usually get one of their omelettes but this time I opted for their special dish "fancy scrambled eggs" which is basically an open face omlette. It was very good! I had a grilled bagel on the side. My boyfriend got the French toast short stack. He was able to mix and match the bread so he had one piece with raisin bread which was tasty.
MoreDelicious food. Service was great I recommend this place .
The food is awesome and waitress are so great!
So, we stopped here out of desperation since our normal "coming home from vacation" breakfast place was closed. It had good reviews on Google, so we figured we'd give them a try. I'm so glad we did! The French toast here is amazing! I ordered 2 slices and was definitely kicking myself for not getting 3! My daughter got a chocolate chip pancake shaped like Mickey Mouse and ate almost the entire thing, plus some hash brown's she split with me. For a picky 3 year old, that's saying something! My boys and husband all said their food was really good too. It is cash only, so make sure you hit up an atm before you go. Totally worth the small annoyance of needing to have cash on hand, though!
MoreAlways a delight! Small-space, adorable 50s diner. Unfortunately, only open for breakfast and lunch.
MoreFood was great, prices not bad, and staff is very kind! She gave our kids coloring books to use while waiting, and a toy after they ate. Would give 5 stars but they were out of mashed potatoes and the soup we ordered and we had to change it.
MoreVery nice people. Delicious food. Definitely come back!
Classic American diner location open for breakfast and lunch, good food and friendly people
MoreMy 9 yr old and I stood at the door for 20 mins waiting for a seat. The waitress looked at us but never greeted. A seat opened up we went and sat down only to be told rudly that there was a wait list. There was no one waiting that we could see. I thanked her for her hospitality and left. Maybe if she had been kind enough to greet us maybe this review would be different.
MoreA local treasure. Such lovely staff and yummy food. Also bring cash as there is no credit card usage
MoreOur favorite breakfast spot. Great service and food. You have to try their roast beef hash. I always bring an order or two home with me!
MoreRegular breakfast options were good. There were no waiting as i was early and just by my self. Some people were waiting while i was having breakfast. Its a smaller local place and good service. I enjoyed it and probably go back if in town.
MoreReal, antique diner....stainless steel with all the old-time trimmings. Counter, too.Breakfast was a great start to our day. Only warning...no credit cards, just the folding green.
MoreI loved the space of the diner and how it was an old school breakfast spot and even saw Phantom Gourmet had visited this diner. However I was disappointed with how disgusting my silverware was. I noticed two of the cups on my table had fresh lipstick marks. Then to top it off I found hair on my food !
MoreThe breakfast we had was very good and service was excellent would highly recommend this place. The next morning we stopped in again...... seated ourselves at the counter got coffee and water and then waited for our server to take our order.....she never came back.. !!! We left and went to flapjacks!!!!The server was getting yelled at by the cook and another server so she got distracted!!!
MoreReally good breakfast, nothing special, just a cute little diner. I enjoyed it, and the coffee was very good.
MoreWow, so nice. Got a big order to go and they prepared it with a smile. Hidden gem.
MoreVery nice place. Good food and great service!
This is a hidden gem...a must if you are in the area! The pancake syrup is the best anywhere and their serving size is very generous!
